In this guide to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, we’ll cover what Moon Orbs do, where you get them, and how best to farm for them.
How to Farm Moon Orbs and What They Do
Moon Orbs allow you to reroll the Enchantment on your gear at the Enchantment Table either in Brighthoof or the Chaos Chamber itself. You can use the first reroll on any piece of gear you have, whether it’s enchanted or not, for 2 Moon Orbs.
The Moon Orb cost doubles with each successive reroll, so if you have 4,000 Moon Orbs, the maximum right now, you can reroll 11 times. After the 11th reroll, the base cost will exceed 4,000 Moon Orbs, so unless you can apply the math of the Outer Gods and exist outside of reality, 11 is all you get.
Farming Moon Orbs is really a matter of playing the game. They drop randomly from any enemy, but you get more from boss and Badass enemies. For instance, killing Zomboss nets between 30-40 Moon Orbs per kill in the early levels of Chaos Mode. Other bosses give roughly equivalent drops.
The best way to farm Moon Orbs is to complete runs of the Chaos Chamber in Brighthoof.
Accessible only after you complete the Wonderlands story campaign, the Chaos Chamber is a randomly generated set of encounter rooms that ends in one of the boss battles you find out in the world. You don’t need to have fought the boss for it to appear in the Chaos Chamber.
The chamber has four modes:
Featured: A bespoke run that will always follow the same pattern of enemies and end boss. If you want to farm something specific, this is the place to do it. Normal: A simple, random run without any specific modifiers that awards 20% extra Crystals, the currency of the Chaos Chamber usable on the loot bunnies after a run. Extended: As the name suggests, a longer run with more rooms and, therefore, enemies that awards 20% extra Crystals. Chaos Trial: A short run that, once completed, raises the Chaos Mode modifier of your game world, increasing difficulty and rewards along with it.
Depending on which run you complete, you’ll end up with a few hundred to closing on a thousand Moon Orbs. The average Chaos Chamber run takes between 15-25 minutes for unoptimized builds, though players have completed runs in under eight minutes with the proper setup.
Early on, you’ll want to be running Chaos Mode chambers, as the higher Chaos increases loot and gold gains. Chaos Mode goes up to 20 right now, for a more than 100% increase to your Loot Luck. Enemy health, damage, and other negative factors increase exponentially at Chaos 20, but by that time, you should be equipped for the task.
Moon Orbs are a precious resource but are thankfully not difficult to farm in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Depending on the Enchantment you’re looking for, you could grind for multiple versions of the same piece of gear. You might need to respec to make the most of your new setup.
