Kevin Bruner, CEO of Telltale Games, confirmed the news to Mashable in an interview. Though no story details were mentioned, he goes on to discuss how the series plans to take an “unexpected” direction with the new season.
Bruner also confirms that choices players made in previous seasons of the series will carry on to the third, with a specific “strategy” in mind to help returning players.
Telltale’s most recent foray into the world of The Walking Dead centered around fan-favorite character Michonne in a miniseries exploring the events of her departure from Rick Grimes’ group of survivors, as depicted in the comic universe. The second episode is set to debut March 29th.
The Walking Dead released to rave reviews in 2012, kickstarting Telltale’s success in licensed narrative games. Since then, the company has produced titles for the likes of Game of Thrones, Minecraft, and more recently Batman.
